Davis Law Firm
Seattle’s Davis Law Firm, owned and operated by attorney Genevieve Davis, delivers exceptional and personal family law services, including parenting plans; legal separation, divorce, and child support; pre- and post-nuptial agreements; and estate planning. As the firm’s sole practitioner, Genevieve Davis offers compassionate, hands-on support, meticulous negotiation skills, and an unparalleled personal touch.
By January 2025, Genevieve knew her website was ready for a change, and she wanted to work with an agency that was skilled and experienced in creating law firm website designs. Referred to us by a previous client (who is now a Superior Court Judge in Snohomish County), Genevieve turned to Hummingbird Marketing to develop distinct branding, a unique logo, and an effective and eye-catching website redesign.

Branding
Project Brief
Bird’s Eye View
The color blue was used throughout the original Davis Law Firm website design to create cohesion; however, aside from the use of color, the website lacked branding. It was bare-bones, generic, and functional. The firm lacked a logo or any other branding to help it stand out in the sea of competitors.
Ruffled Feathers: Davis Law Firm’s Pain Points
The lack of distinct branding proved to be a large problem for this small, personalized firm, as a sizable law firm under a similar name in the Seattle area became unnecessary competition. Although each of the firms provides services in entirely different practice areas, the similarities in names, coupled with being in the same city, left Davis Law Firm unrecognized in the shadows of this giant.
Genevieve found herself competing with a firm that wasn’t really even a competitor. She needed help making her practice stand out, helping the public identify her as separate from the large defense firm, and increasing awareness of her outstanding family law services.
Our Flight Plan
Genevieve’s branding goal was for a logo and imagery that were as professional and established as her services. She needed her firm to stand out with distinct visuals. We started with the color blue from her website and expanded it into a logo and branding packet with the goal of increasing brand awareness and leading potential clients to find the legal help they needed faster.
Logo & Imagery
Because Genevieve Davis wasn’t sure what direction she wanted to take, we embarked on a branding journey together. As with so many of our clients, we created in collaboration with Genevieve, offering several options at each step of the way. Through feedback and presenting multiple logo and font options, we could narrow down styles until zoning in on imagery that felt unique, personal, and appropriate to her business. We never move forward with a design that our client doesn’t absolutely love. With outdated photos on her website and marketing materials, we suggested it was time for a refresh. We recommended a trusted photographer for fresh photos and branded her website with the new imagery. We also used her new headshot and logo to create eye-catching and professional business cards.

Color & Typography
Genevieve didn’t know where to start with her branding goals. All she knew she wanted was the color blue. Blue invokes feelings of trust, stability, and reliability — qualities that make up the Davis Law Firm values. We wanted to expand on this, creating strong yet welcoming branding. Family law is very personal; we wanted current and future clients to feel safe, protected, and comfortable while also knowing that they were working with a seasoned professional. Because the firm is based in Seattle and caters to residents of the city and nearby towns, we included imagery of the city to invoke familiarity and distinguish the firm’s location. The pairing of shades of blue with images of the Seattle area created a beautiful yet distinct aesthetic.
The Final Product
Web Design
Project Brief
Bird’s Eye View
The Davis Law Firm website was dated and missing key information, which is critical for effective law firm website design. Most detrimental was the omission of valuable legal services offered by the firm, making it more difficult for people in need to access services. Aside from the much-needed update, the successful firm also deserved a design that reflected the established, trustworthy practice it is. The website needed to be inviting, informative, accurate, and easy to navigate. By focusing on SEO, user experience, and thoughtful design, we transformed the Davis Law Firm website into a powerful tool for connecting with clients and showcasing the firm’s expertise.
Ruffled Feathers: Davis Law Firm’s Pain Points
When we began working with Genevieve, the Davis Law Firm website was bare bones, providing just basic information. However, with only one photo on the site, it failed to accurately portray the firm’s growth and evolution. Originally designed in 2010, the website was outdated and lacked key details essential for modern law firm website design. Davis Law Firm was an established practice, but the website was stuck in the past. Additionally, the content was not optimized for search engines, leaving the firm to compete with a larger firm that didn’t even practice family law but dominated local Google searches through a persistent SEO strategy.
Our Flight Plan
SEO is important for any website and a cornerstone of effective law firm website design; it became a leading goal for the Davis Law Firm redesign. Ensuring that people searching for the firm could easily find it was paramount. Our plan included distinct branding throughout the website to differentiate the firm from others. The goal of the redesign was to bring a new website to life with gorgeous imagery, accurate information, and detailed descriptions of all the firm’s services.
We also focused on creating a user-friendly experience. For individuals navigating family law issues — often overwhelmed and unfamiliar with the system — we needed to design an easy-to-navigate site filled with digestible pieces of information that simplifies family law. The new website needed to establish Genevieve as a trusted resource for family law questions while also advertising her services for hire.
Feathers in Our Cap: Top Accomplishments
We designed a striking yet welcoming website that achieved the number one goal — a professional and polished digital presence.
Genevieve’s top priority was to develop a website that showcases her as an established and trustworthy attorney, and we delivered. With imagery that went beyond the typical law firm clichés, we took a creative and conceptual approach. The design is inviting to people from all walks of life, while the use of blue tones and Seattle imagery creates a sense of familiarity and trust. This thoughtful approach ensures visitors know exactly where they are, with no confusion about competing firms.

We created an updated and in-depth form for potential clients, saving time (and money).
The original contact form was overly simple, leading to time-consuming back-and-forth conversations with potential clients. Often, Genevieve would discover that the inquiries were for services outside of family law. To address this frustrating situation, we created a detailed yet user-friendly form with multiple-choice options, leading questions, and a scheduling calendar. This streamlined process saved Genevieve hours each week and ensured she could focus on clients who truly needed her expertise.
We highlighted major services that were not advertised on her existing website.
Two of Genevieve’s services that she commonly worked on were not even mentioned on her website. Pre- and post-nuptial support, as well as protective orders, made up a large amount of her workload, but a website visitor would never have known she even offered these services. We especially wanted to highlight these services because many attorneys in the area do not offer them.
With detailed service descriptions, the new website makes it easier for people seeking any family law services, including pre-nup, post-nup, or protective order services, to identify the resources they need and find help fast. We also compiled FAQs for each service area to help visitors and guide them to the appropriate services, building trust with potential clients and establishing expertise. Through these in-depth service descriptions, we wrote SEO content while bringing awareness to the firm’s full breadth of solutions.
