Tuohy Minor Kruse
Tuohy Minor Kruse PLLC is a family law firm based in Everett, Wash. Founded in 2008 and now with four partners, the firm offers exceptional legal services with a focus on divorce, adoption, and all aspects of family law, but the firm’s website was outdated, missing information, and lacked any reflection of its personality. The attorneys came to Hummingbird Marketing Services for a new law firm website design in October 2018. We transformed a once unengaging and barely functioning website into one that is not only effective but a true reflection of the expert and compassionate services that Tuohy Minor Kruse provides. In 2024, we encouraged the firm to let us refresh the website, in which we focused on mobile-responsiveness. Today, we continue to support the firm with site updates as the business evolves.

Project Brief
Bird’s Eye View
Tuohy Minor Kruse has an outstanding team of family law attorneys, but its website wasn’t reflecting that. In October 2018, we began working together to build a website that displayed the attorneys expertise, showcased the legal areas the team focused on, and made it easier than ever to connect with potential clients. We did just that, and continued to support the firm with updates as needed. Six years later, we recommended a refresh of the site to add even more personality to the website while optimizing the existing content so that it would appear quickly in search engines.
Ruffled Feathers
Originally, the partners were unhappy with their website because it felt outdated, it didn’t highlight the meaningful work of the firm, or showcase the attorneys’ personalities. Even worse, the website was not functional — the hosting provider failed often and caused the site to crash, and their website manager was no longer in business. In short, the website was bland and sterile, but the team was vibrant, welcoming, and warm.
Our Flight Plan
Our goal was simple — create a beautiful, functional website that accurately tells the Tuohy Minor Kruse story. We wanted to showcase the firm’s personality and the approachable expertise offered by the attorneys and support staff. The website needed to be mobile-friendly, optimized for search engines, and have easy-to-read, up-to-date information on the firm’s team and services. Additionally, we wanted the new site to be distinct and clear by implementing a brand identity that was unmistakable. Once we saw the historic brick building that housed the firm, we knew we wanted to weave that rich detail into the website.
Feathers in Our Cap: Top Accomplishments
We built a website that not only shares information but tells a story.
The biggest, and arguably most important, piece that was missing from Touhy Minor Kruse’s original website was brand identity. Although the project was to build a stunning website, our team also designed a new logo and established a color palette for the firm. We pulled inspiration from the gorgeous historical brick building where the firm is based. Our website design was also influenced by the exposed brick inside the offices. In fact, support staff photos feature the brick wall in the background.
We created a new site that told the firm’s story and included the new unique branding throughout each page. We also featured all of the attorneys and support staff on an “About” page to highlight each individual’s personality and specialties. Family law is personal, and a compatible client-attorney relationship is key. We wanted to ensure that potential clients know exactly who they might be working with in these personal matters.

We crafted content that is current and optimized for the ideal target audience.
What’s the point of razor-sharp writing if no one can find it on Google? Our thoughtfully created content brought the team to life digitally and shared valuable information about the firm while optimizing for search engines, all without sounding robotic. (Our in-house content writers are skilled in SEO best practices and writing in an inviting and welcoming tone for human beings.)
Equally as important as readability, we ensured the content was up-to-date and accurate, without any broken links. Through creative writing and new headshots, we breathed new life into the dated attorney and staff bios, showcasing the welcoming team in a way that made potential clients want to learn more.
We went above and beyond a website design project; we became TMK’s marketing partner.
In the beginning, Tuohy Minor Kruse reached out to us for a new website, but left with something even more powerful: a partnership. Yes, we delivered a modern, effective, and updated website, but we also became the firm’s marketing partner and still are seven years later.
Because TMK and Hummingbird CEO Andi Lucas are both local to the Seattle area, we were able to create a strong collaboration. Even though most meetings are on Zoom, Andi has met with the team in person quite often and is always just an email away. Today, our team continues to keep the firm’s site current in information and up-to-date in navigation and design.

Emphasis on Showcasing Staff
The team consists of so many outstanding individuals. By keeping staff bios current and uploading fresh photos of each team member, the site now shows off the talent behind the practice and emphasizes each attorney’s areas of focus. Our team continues to be available to update staff bios as the team grows.
-
Personal Touches
For a little extra personality, we also showcased Tito, the office dog who holds the impressive title “VP of Conflict Resolution.”
