Lynnwood Animal Hospital, the newest addition to the Veterinary Roots network, is dedicated to providing high-quality veterinary care for pets in Lynnwood, Wash. We’ve had the pleasure of working with our long-time client, Veterinary Roots Owner Dr. Debra Nicholson, and the Vet Roots team since 2016. We were thrilled to have their trust in our services and to support them in this new chapter. As soon as we got the green light, we dove headfirst into redesigning Lynnwood Animal Hospital’s preexisting site to reflect the Veterinary Roots brand guidelines. Serving dogs and cats as well as ferrets, chinchillas, rabbits, and rodents (aka Pocket Pets), Lynnwood Animal Hospital is committed to delivering compassionate care in all services. Thus, we knew our mission: Highlight the clinic’s range in care and all essential information with a skillfully crafted, visually friendly, and easily navigable online experience.

Bird’s Eye View

Lynnwood Animal Hospital appreciated the inviting and modern designs we’ve created for their other locations, such as Bothell Pet Hospital, and their sister non-profit organization, Rainier Animal Fund. It was important to our clients that we showcase the connection between pets and their owners while maintaining a professional look. We also knew we had a steep hill to climb with search engine optimization because Dr. Nicholson changed the clinic’s name from Animal Hospital of Lynnwood to Lynnwood Animal Hospital. In addition, a flashy new emergency vet opened a mile away just weeks after Dr. Nicholson purchased the clinic, creating more competition

Ruffled Feathers: Lynnwood Animal Hospital’s Pain Points

With the clinic under new ownership and with a new identity, Dr. Nicholson and her team were anxious to drive new clients to the website. The original website felt cluttered and overly focused on unprofessional elements that didn’t align with Lynnwood Animal Hospital’s new brand. The content was scattered across multiple pages, creating unnecessary layers for site visitors to click through and making it challenging to locate essential information. This disorganization made the site frustrating to navigate and showed the need for a clearer, more user-friendly design.

Our Flight Plan

The team at Lynnwood Animal Hospital wanted to attract a new demographic of clients in the Lynnwood area, focusing on suburban families. Our goal was to attract traffic from and resonate with this community by highlighting the clinic’s high-quality care and services. It was important for the website to feel approachable and relevant to the local audience and to emphasize their similar values of health and well-being for their pets. To that end, we wrote completely new content to display the same mission and values each Vet Roots hospital shares, but with a new look and improved SEO specific to Lynnwood Animal Hospital’s demographics. While staying true to the clinic’s beautiful new branding, we developed a color scheme and other brand elements to distinguish this site from the other Vet Roots sites — just as each location has its unique characteristics.

We simplified access to key information.

Pet owners need quick access to details like hours, location, appointment options, contact information, and the online pharmacy. To make this information easy to find for visitors, we added a sticky navigation bar with a bold “Make an Appointment” button so that it is visible on every page.

We also introduced a top bar displaying key details, like hours and phone number, ensuring that important information was always front and center. To simplify the appointment process, we organized three different forms into a dropdown menu for new clients, and we placed callouts across the site to guide visitors to the correct form. These updates created a seamless and efficient experience for users.

A key focus when building this website was balancing comprehensive information with readability. We structured content into clear, scannable sections with well-defined headings, allowing users to effortlessly locate relevant information.

To minimize visual clutter, we incorporated expandable accordion sections to access detailed content. This approach kept the site visually clean, improved user experience, and helped with SEO by creating structured, easy-to-read pages.
